About this service
Our volunteers and staff are trained to respond to the needs of individuals at the scene of a crime or tragedy and provide information that is helpful in each circumstance. Emotional Support is administered by assisting victims in gathering natural support systems, identifying options/choices, and validating feelings while actively listening to concerns. Volunteers may also offer practical assistance through the provision of transportation, accompaniment, assistance with childcare, safety planning, and referral. Volunteers complete a combination of web-based training and in-class instruction, receiving a Certificate of Completion at the conclusion of their training.
