QUINTE HEALTH CARE - DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAM (DVSARP)

The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program (DVSARP) at Quinte Health is a specialized program staffed by a team of trained nurses around the clock. It extends services to all four Quinte Health hospital sites, including Belleville, Trenton, North Hastings, and Picton. The program works closely with community partners to raise awareness and provide information about sexual assault and domestic violence. DVSARP offers comprehensive acute healthcare to victims of violence and their families, including assessing for STIs, HIV risk, pregnancy, offering prophylactic medications, medical follow-ups, documentation of injuries, collection and storage of sexual assault evidence, community referrals, and transportation assistance. The program champions the autonomy of the victims by allowing them to choose from the array of these services based on their needs. A patient can be referred to the program regardless of the time elapsed since the incidence of violence.
