About this service

Quinte Health Care's Preschool Speech and Language Program is part of the Quinte Children's Treatment Centre and is designed for children from birth to 5 years old. The program aims to identify and address issues related to speech, language, fluency, voice, social communication, and listening in preschool-aged children. The program utilizes Communication Disorder Assistants (CDAs) who work under the supervision of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs). They follow an approach centered on the idea that parents and caregivers serve as key teachers for their child's speech and language development. The treatment methods vary and focus on training parents and caregivers to promote skills daily, not just during therapy sessions. Referrals can be made by parents, other agencies, schools, or daycare until June 30 of the child's Junior Kindergarten year or until they reach the age of 5.
