About this service
Affirmative House was built in 2007 to provide a stable, affordable home from which participants recovering from mental illness can engage as productive members of our communities.
The house is a co-operative based housing model and provides 10 tenants with the opportunity to build equity and gain independence while working or acquiring an education.
An innovative Tenant Savings Plan, supported by the tenants and Affirmative Ventures in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services, helps tenants earn equity for buying a home or returning to school when they move on.
