About this service
Boccia is a Paralympic sport of precision and strategy similar to lawn bowling or curling. It is one of only two Paralympic sports that do not have an Olympic counterpart. Athletes compete in a specific sport class based on their level and type of disability.
During our weekly Community Boccia Program, persons with and without disabilities play boccia together. This program focuses on all levels of play, some athletes are starting out getting introduced to the sport, some athletes attend for recreational purposes and others are training to compete, we even have some athletes who are training as part of our Canadian National team who attend to mentor their fellow athletes. Our participants attend boccia for many different reasons which makes it a great program for our teen and adult population to socialize and build skills, all while having fun. It is considered the most inclusive sport in the world and is played at all levels, from recreational all the way up to Paralympic competition.
