Grief and loss are unavoidable over a lifetime. Relationships get severed whether by the death of a loved one, separation/divorce and even loved ones moving to a different region.

Adapting to grief/loss, may be a natural and unavoidable process: however, counsellors are trained to help sufferers understand the stages of grief and the associated feelings like guilt and anger that often are a part of that process.

Everyone deals with grief differently; sometimes it requires being alone and expressing your feelings; sometimes it is better to share your feelings with someone who understands.

The belief that you should be able to get through this by yourself like everyone else can make a difficult time much worse. As was previously stated, everyone deals with grief differently, and there is no shame in seeking help from professionals who understand the process, can help with feeling safe to express your feelings, and can help you get back to embracing life when you are ready.
