About this organization

Cara Transition House is located in Gander, Newfoundland. We provide shelter and security to women and their dependent children who are fleeing family violence.

Cara Transition House is a registered non-profit charity governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and staffed by trained lay counsellors. All services are free of charge and confidential.

We maintain a 13-bed shelter for women who have left abusive relationships with or without their children. Our staff provides counselling, safety planning, legal and court support, referrals, and information and education about violence against women. We can be reached at any time through our 24 hour toll free crisis line. Call us toll free at 1-877-800-2272.

We also operate 6 affordable housing units for women and families leaving our shelter.
