YWCA Moncton - Digital Literacy

Given the importance of digital literacy skills to under-represented populations, MediaSmarts and YWCA Canada have partnered to develop and deliver DigitalSmarts, a digital literacy skills program. YWCA Moncton is one of seven YWCA Member Association offering this training. The DigitalSmarts program is a series of eight hour-long workshops designed to teach important everyday digital skills. The workshops include hands-on activities and videos and cover topics such as: Protecting privacy and security Online job searching Shopping and banking online Using social media Searching the internet effectively Managing screen time for kids This program is made possible thanks to funding from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canadas Digital Literacy Exchange Program. Workshop topics include: Discover Online Basics: Fundamental digital skills, Navigating websites Discover Online Safety: Avoiding online scams, Helping keep your kids safe online, Keeping devices safe from malware, How to deal with cyberstalking Explore Online Privacy: Using privacy settings, Securing accounts and devices Navigate Online Information: Using Advanced Search Skills, How to verify information found online
