About this service
The UMSU Hardship fund is a financial assistance program administered by the Vice President Student Life. The fund exists to aid students who are in desperate need, and have exhausted all other resources and options available to them. The Hardship Fund is administered by cheque to students who apply and are approved, and can be issued in the form of a loan or grant. If a student is issued a loan, the VPSL works with the student to create a payment timeline that works for them, and UMSU does not collect interest on these loans.
The UMSU Hardship Funding can be used by students for the following:
- Childcare costs
- Textbook and school supply costs
- Healthcare assistance
- Rent assistance
- Grocery assistance
- Urgent bill payments
