About this service
Step Safe is a falls prevention program offered through DMPSC in partnership with Parkland Regional Health Authority and the City of Dauphin.
Do you know that:
- 1 in 3 seniors fall each year.
- Falls are a leading case of death in people over the age of 65 years.
- 90% of hip fractures are caused by falls.
- Falls can lead to a decrease in activity and lead to social isolation.
If you see a hazard on a sidewalk, a crack, a hole, uneven concrete, snow or ice, call Step Safe at 638-6485. The information you provide is passed on to the City of Dauphin. The hazard will then be marked with fluorescent green paint to warn others to Step Safe until it can be repaired.
