About this service
In 2018, the city of Vancouver gave us a grant to develop a peer support team of workers in a Harm Reduction framework. WAHRS developed an outreach team, with harm reduction supplies and began to do Outreach shifts 2 days per week in 2019. The response was overwhelming, we have since expanded to 4 days a week, added a food and hydration shift. We are eager to expand our work to 7 days a week, 2 shifts per day and night. Not only does this impact our community in the DTES, it also helps our members, as they enjoy the meaningful work and financial support this provides.
