About this service
A social & supportive setting in which women prepare enough nutritious food for each participant to take home two-three meals for her family. With the support of a coordinator the women have planning meetings where they discuss:
- Menus
- Bulk buying groceries
- Preparing recipes
- Childcare arrangement
- Sharing of the food/expenses
The Kitchen operates three times a month & each session runs for about three hours. Participants contribute either $2.50 per session or ingredients of equal value to help offset the grocery budget. The Kitchen is also open to the surrounding community and we encourage women in the neighbourhood to participate.
