About this service
Free smoking cessation products are available if you are on income assistance regular benefits or disability benefits.
This program has two treatment options to choose from:
Prescription drugs:
- bupropion (brand name Zyban); OR varenicline (brand name Champix) or
- Non-prescription (over-the-counter) NRT products: nicotine gum (Thrive) or nicotine patches (Habitrol)
Each calendar year, PharmaCare will cover one prescription smoking cessation drug for a single continuous course of treatment lasting up to 12 weeks.
