About this service
GVCSS has operated a Home Support program under a series of service contracts with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, and its predecessor agencies dating back to 1978. We also deliver Home Support services to clients referred to us by the Department of Veterans Affairs, WorkSafe BC, ICBC, Ministry of Child and Family Development, and Community Living British Columbia.
Our Community Health Workers (CHWs) are qualified as Health Care Assistants by schools which follow the Provincial Curriculum for the Health Care Assistant Program. They are trained and supervised by our team of Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses, who are regulated by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC and the College of Registered Nurses of BC respectively. Today, some 600 CHWs provide home support to more than 4000 clients, including both publicly-funded and private pay.
