Daily Program

This program helps prepare the children for the upcoming Kindergarten environment. Circle time, small group activities, free play, creative art experiences and baking are all included in this program. At Halfmoon Bay Childcare Centre we provide a play-based program for 3 -5 year old children. A teacher-child ratio of 1 to 8 or less is maintained. Class sizes are limited to 16 in order to provide high-quality care. Our daily program follows a basic routine that offers both structured and unstructured activities throughout the day. The program is kept flexible enough to meet the needs of the individual as well as the group. We offer a wide variety of creative learning experiences both inside and outside classroom settings based on the interests of the group in our centre. Some of the areas of exploration include nature, music, storytelling and writing, movement, construction, science, puzzles and logic, cooking, construction and dramatic play. We are outside exploring and participating in free and organized physical activity for at least 2 hours a day. Please make sure that your child has weather appropriate shoes/boots and clothing. In addition to what your child needs to bring daily, during the warmer months please also send a sunhat, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, and life jacket if they have one. DAILY SCHEDULE In accordance with BCCDC, WCB, and Vancouver Coastal Health requirements and recommendations, we have changed some of our program to be able to provide the safest early learning experience for everyone during this time while we all work through this pandemic together. NEW COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS > View the Sign-in/Sign-out process 8:00am Centre opens and children engage in free play choice of art, water play, puzzles, play dough, table & floor toys, etc. 9:30am Clean-up and Circle-time 10:15am Morning Snack followed by Quiet Time 11:15am Outside Time 12:15 pm Lunch Time 1:00 pm Quiet Time and quiet activities 1:30 pm Outside and Afternoon activities 2:30 pm Circle Time 3:00 pm Small group activities & Outside time 3:30 pm Centre closes **Please be on time for pick-up as there is a $1/min late fee after closure time.
