About this service
The All Nations Healing Room was designed, based on input from Elders in First Nations communities, to provide a culturally safe, quiet, and peaceful space within the Patient Care Centre at the Royal Jubilee Hospital that is welcoming and open to Aboriginal people.
This room offers a space where Aboriginal people can gather with family to perform traditional healing practices and ceremonies while in hospital, and accommodates ceremonies such as smudging, cleansing, and singing.
The design of the space is inspired by a Coast Salish Longhouse. The entrance doors and carvings hanging in the room were designed by local artists Charles Elliott(link is external) and Doug LaFortune. Also in the space is a painting designed and donated by Métis artist Frank Lewis.
The All Nations' Healing Room extends to the outdoors and includes beach log benches and a pond with a waterfall.
