About this service
Revelstoke Search and Rescue (REVSAR) is a volunteer organization based in Revelstoke, B.C. Canada. REVSAR has conducted Ground Search and Rescue operations in and around Revelstoke and outlying areas since 1952.
REVSAR works under the auspice of Emergency Management B.C. (EMBC), a branch of the provincial Ministry of Justice. REVSAR missions start only after our services have been requested by 1 of 9 tasking agencies, most commonly the RCMP. General information on the BC Search
Volunteers are highly trained, many are leading specialists in search and rescue techniques, avalanche science, incident command systems, communications, planning and logistics. REVSAR provides a number of search and rescue services. Specialty Teams include the:
- Snowmobile Rescue Team
- Helicopter Rescue Team: Class D Fixed Line (CDFL) or Helicopter Evacuation Transportation Systems (HETS) Team
- Avalanche Rescue Team
- Rope Rescue Team
- Swift-water Rescue Team
