About this service
Oceanview Middle School was opened in 1976 as a Junior Secondary School and housed approximately 500 students in grades 8-10. Since that time the site has provided educational opportunities at a variety of levels even acting as a grade 8 only school prior to Brooks Secondary School transitioning to a grade 8-12 school. In 2012 Oceanview saw the last class transition to High School and started down a new chapter as the OceanvIew Education Centre. Currently Oceanview houses a variety of educational and community programs that offer services to youth throughout the Powell River area. These organizations provide educational outreach and support through multiple methods including Distributed Learning, Alternate learning, onsite career training, as well as reaching out to youth and families through the Powell River Youth and Family Services Society.
