SOWINS - Stopping the Violence Counselling

Sowins offers free and confidential counselling programs to women who have experience abuse. The sowins team understands that abuse takes many forms and can look different for everyone! Abuse may be emotional, physical, sexual, verbal, psychological or financial. We are here to support you on your concerns with current or historical experiences of abuse. Our services include: counselling- we provide a safe, supportive, and confidential space to speak about the abuse you have experienced. We consider all factors in our counselling approach and how these factors interact such as biological, psychological, and social factors. We support women with their immediate and historical experience with abuse. Safety planning- we can provide information about increasing your safety whether you choose to stay or leave a relationship and develop a safety plan that explores your options. Advocacy services- we can assist you with understanding your rights. This can take the form of accompanying and supporting you with a stressful meeting with other community agencies. Community information and referrals- we can provide information about other community programs, and complete referrals with clients when necessary.
