About this service
In June 2011 the Penticton School Board approached Meals On Wheels to provided nutritious breakfasts 5 days a week at 3 elementary schools: Columbia, Queens Park and West Bench. This program began Sept. 2011. This service is provided, as far too many children go to school hungry. A few months after the start of this program, the schools staffs commented on how behaviour and attendance has improved. The students are offered a varied healthy menu Mondays through Fridays. Our volunteers are there from 7:45 9:00 am. We would like 3 volunteers per day at each school, which requires 45 volunteers. You can volunteer for one or more days. A criminal record check is required.
