Residential treatment is where an individual goes to a treatment Centre for a period of time (usually between 1 month and 3 months) and lives there for the duration. Usually at residential treatment programs the focus is on skill building, relapse prevention and 'life skills'. The work is usually done in a group setting. Residential treatment may be the best service for you if:
- You are comfortable in groups and group work
- If you enjoy support group type recovery such as SMART, AA or NA
- You have identified underlying issues and are now seeking skill building
- You have little to no access to other mental health and addiction services in your local area
- You are not working
