Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver - Sequoia at Firth Residences

EFrys Sequoia at Firth Residences provides a welcoming, safe space for adult women (LGBTQ2S+ trans non-binary) (19+yo) with substance use dependency to address their substance use through a holistic approach to health care. Our evidence-based program promotes the strengths of each person in identifying goals that support wellness in different areas of life including: Substance use with a recovery-oriented approach Mental and physical health Relationships, social needs and connection Education, training and employment Spiritual and cultural wellbeing Housing, income and community resources EFrys team of counsellors, nurses, support workers, medical staff and cooks ensure that you are fully supported in working towards wellness. The program is approximately 90-days and involves three stages: STABILIZATION Transition to the program Post-detox stabilization Introduction to the program, staff, routines Engaging in goal setting INTENSIVE PROGRAMMING Individual counselling Group programming to address substance use and relapse prevention Wellness supports Medical and mental health care Cultural supports Recreational activities TRANSITIONING HOME Maintaining wellness and relapse prevention Practical needs assistance, including housing, education and/or training Aftercare planning Maintaining and expanding a support network Connecting with wellness supports in your home community People participating in the program have their own room with ensuite. Each room has air conditioning and heating. Meals are prepared by our cooks in our licensed kitchen and are designed to support each persons nutrition needs. The site has a spacious and light group programming and activity room. There are also outdoor programming spaces. Quiet and confidential spaces are provided for meeting with counsellors and health professionals, and there is a dedicated cultural room. The program is conveniently located close to transit, green space, and a short walk to the centre of Abbotsford. A referral for this program must be made with the client through a professional person in the community (eg. addiction team provider, counsellor, social worker, physician, psychiatrist, mental health professional).
