About this service
Offers practical support to Aboriginal persons accessing health care services. Provides a communication liaison between the patient, family, community, and health care provider, assisting the care team with health care and discharge planning. Provides non-clinical services and is an adjunct to health care staff. Goal is to improve access and ensure the Aboriginal patient's health care experience is culturally safe and inclusive. Aims to ensure the Aboriginal patient understands the hospital cultural/processes, and health care staff understand the unique needs of the Aboriginal patient.
