About this service
Outpatient counselling provides assessment, treatment and referral services to children, youth and adults affected by their own or someone else's substance misuse. Services are provided throughout the East Kootenay.
Counselling usually takes place at an EKASS office, but can sometimes be offered at other locations, including people's homes.
In the first few counselling sessions the client and counsellor work together to develop goals and a treatment plan that fit for the client's needs. Clients typically meet with their counsellor every one to two weeks in the early stage of counselling. This often becomes less frequent as clients make progress towards their goals.
