About this service
At East Kootenay Addiction Services Society we use a whole community approach to encourage open dialogue and healthy communication about drug and alcohol use.
We focus on health promotion and strengths-based positive youth development; always seeing youth as valuable resources. We believe young people are at their best and most healthy when they are connected to school, family and community.
The Circle of Courage provides the philosophical foundation for the work of Substance Use Education Programs at EKASS. This model was developed by Dr. Martin Brokenleg, and is based on the universal principle that to be emotionally healthy all youth need a sense of belonging, mastery, independence and generosity.
