Newleaf Learning and Childcare - Junior Kindergarten

Junior Kindergarten is a time when your childs world grows exponentially through new influences, exposure to a broader range of people and ideas, and a greater perspective of the world around them. Its exciting watching them expand their horizons. Moreover, todays preschooler lives in a rapidly transforming environment where technological developments are altering the skills that they need to acquire. They now require additional capabilities that prepare them not only for school, but for life. Critical thinking, problem solving and creativity are now seen as essential learning dispositions and the new basis for 21st century learning. Our innovative junior kindergarten program is based on the most current research, and offers a comprehensive curriculum for 3 to 5 year olds that ensures the best possible preparation for school and life. The program is integrated across the day and led by qualified Teachers. Our New Leaf Curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach of learning, with children participating in regular small group activities. A typical junior kindergarten day is broken up into specific sessions of structured teacher led learning as well as opportunities for children to initiate their own play. Educational learning is planned from daily observations, childrens individual interests and families input. Through choice, challenge and practice, they will continue to develop independent life skills, and grow in self-confidence and self-identity. In many ways, New Leaf Learning and Childcare centre is preparing your child for a future that we dont yet know, and for jobs that are yet to be created.
