It may be used as a means of controlling the other person and forcing them to behave in certain ways. It often reflects the imbalance of power between the victim and the abuser.
In any form, abuse and violence profoundly affect individual health and well-being.
This web site provides basic information about domestic abuse and what you can do about it whether you are a victim or someone else who cares about what is happening. For ease of reading, we refer to the victim as she. However, the information will be helpful to men as well.
