About this service
The Reverend Forbes Homestead is regarded as a Provincial Historic Resource Site located in Grande Prairie. It's the oldest log home and first hospital in the city, built for Reverend and Mrs. Forbes in 1911-12. The homestead, which serves as a representation of the city's inception, was fully restored and made public in 2010 to celebrate the Forbes' 100th anniversary of arrival. The house, now managed by the Grande Prairie Museum, is filled with antique household items and primitive medical equipment. Free guided tours and admissions are offered from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, until September 2, 2023. Additionally, there are plans for the return of annual afternoon teas in the summer of 2023.
