The COVID Community Roots Program was an initiative created to support the most vulnerable communities affected by the COVID-19 crisis in Alberta. The program, a partnership between Alberta Blue Cross, Alberta Recreation and Parks Association, and Communities ChooseWell, provided grants up to $3,000 to support the social, mental, emotional, and physical well-being of residents in rural, remote, and secondary communities. The program particularly targeted areas outside of Edmonton and Calgary, giving priority to grassroots initiatives. The program is now closed after supporting numerous communities over the past three years.
