Elder Caring Shelter Services is an initiative by Metis Local 1990 board that was established in 2003. It offers short-term and long-term shelter for homeless elders aged 55 and above in Grande Prairie. Residents are expected to be self-sufficient, contribute to communal chores, and cohabit well with others. Potential applicants contact the shelter directly for an appointment with management. The Shelter also offers recreational activities throughout the year. Moreover, medically necessary accommodation services are available for valid MNA citizens who need to travel to Edmonton for medical services. Office hours for inquiries are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
