About this service
Aboriginal Counseling Services is providing mental wellness services to Indigenous children, their caregivers and parents through the use of Self-Regulation (SRT) and Somatic Experiencing (SE). The program seeks to stabilize trauma behaviors and begin to identify developmental capacity. Children may suffer with the effects of trauma, such as not sleeping, difficulty reading and writing at school, being angry and or crying all the time. Talking about the trauma does not always help the scary pictures in our mind or scary thoughts to go away. Our friendly approach using play and art, helps to settle the child so they can gain skills, build self-confidence and move towards better health.
Referrals come from Childrens Service or you can self-refer.
