About this service
Our Family Courtworker program seeks to ensure that Aboriginal families involved in family court receive reliable, culturally appropriate assistance inside and outside the courtroom, while also helping at-risk families avoid involvement with Child Intervention Services.
Program:
*helps ensure the safety and protection of children
*helps facilitate the development of support networks for at-risk families
*minimizes the stress typically caused by the complexities of the court process.
Our Family Courtworkers are trained through the NCSA Peacemaking Training and frequently employ alternative dispute resolution skills when assisting families to resolve conflicts. The program not only works to alleviate the over-representation of Aboriginal people within the child intervention service system, but also reduces the costs of:
*Foster Care
*Child Intervention Services Investigations
*Court Costs
