About this service
Through the Employment First program, refugees gain hands-on work experience, workplace skills, and one-on-one support that will help them secure and retain employment, meet the standards and expectations of local employers, and succeed on the job.
This 6-week program will provide participants with immediate job placement in an entry-level position, as well as an opportunity to build their skills through CCIS employment training.
Participants will be in the workplace for a minimum of 24 hours per week, with 2 days in the CCIS classroom. Classroom learning includes, but is not limited to:
- Communication skills for the Canadian workplace
- Working with others
- Customer service skills
- Canadian workplace culture and values
- Personal management skills
- Employment rights and responsibilities
Following the 6-week job placement, a permanent employment opportunity may be offered.
