About this service
A 14 week pre-apprenticeship training program offered in partnership with Trade Winds to Success Training Society.
It is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing a career in one of the following trades: boilermaker, ironworker, carpenter, plumber, steam/pipefitter, welder.
Training is offered in Calgary and Edmonton.
The program begins with a 3 week trade streaming process involving: assessment testing and visits to training sites, shops and local education facilities. Clients then flow through to the Informed Career Decision Making course to ensure they choose to study the trade that is right for them.
Clients then move to the pre-apprenticeship training which includes:
- Personal development (one week)
- Academic upgrading (four weeks)
- Write Entrance Exam 4 from Apprenticeship Industry and Trades
- Progress to eight (8) weeks of union shop and hand tools training with safety tickets
- Employment with the unions or your own employer of choice
- Mentorship program
