Welcome to the Welcome Center site for Francophone Newcomers to the Calgary area (CANAF). The Federal Government and the Provincial Government of Alberta recognize the importance of immigration for the province's Francophone future.

Newcomers contribute to the social, cultural and economic life of the province of Alberta and, in doing so, promote the vitality and diversity of Francophone communities. Immigration is very important to the vitality of the francophone population of the province of Alberta. It is clear that the vast majority of Francophone newcomers face many challenges to overcome before integrating well into society.
