Saskatoon Nature Society

Saskatoon Nature Society is a registered charitable organization, founded in 1955, whose objective is to promote the appreciation of nature, and encourage a deeper knowledge of it through observation, education and sharing of experience. We support nature conservation projects, and are an active advocate for the preservation of plant and animal habitats. We are stewards of the Saskatoon Natural Grasslands. ? We hold monthly indoor programs featuring a guest speaker from September through April. Throughout the year, we organize numerous birding, botany and butterfly field trips as well as identification classes for birds and wildflowers.

WHAT WE DO Speaker Series A monthly speaker series is held from September to April. Field Trips We run field trips, organize bird, plant and butterfly counts and participate in surveys of endangered species. Members also collect data for Saskatchewans Breeding Bird Atlas project. Workshops We organize bird and wildflower identification classes for both novice and experienced naturalists. Young Naturalists In cooperation with the Saskatoon Zoo Society, we present the Young Naturalists program for youth aged five to eleven. Publications We publish a regular newsletter for our members, and produce special publications such as A Guide to Nature Viewing Sites in and around Saskatoon. We also publish annotated checklists to the Birds and Butterflies found in our region.
