About this service
The Supportive Independent Living Program provides individuals with intellectual disabilities with the supports necessary to reside in their own home. S.I.L.P. involvement is tailored to the needs of the Consumer. Workers assist Consumers with skills for daily living, such as cooking, banking, and shopping. Consumers receive emotional support and are encouraged to seek vocational and recreational opportunities. When appropriate, Consumers are provided with information regarding relocation. S.I.L.P. workers may act as advocates for Consumers and may become liaisons between the Consumers and other agencies. The goal of S.I.L.P. is to assist Consumers to achieve an optimum level of independence, personal growth and quality of life.
