About this service
The Skills Training to Advance Immigrant Youth (STAIY) Program is the youth employment program offered at Regina Immigrant Women Centre. The Program runs for a duration of 14 weeks; three weeks in class and eleven weeks in a Work placement. The objective of the Program is to provide each participant an opportunity of Canadian Work Experience that will lead either to a permanent position with the placement host, or return to an educational program that will enhance their present and acquired skill sets to meet future career objectives.
There are three classes per year with six participants in each class. Participants are selected after an interview and screening by the Project Coordinator.
Each participant is paid minimum wage for both classroom and placement hours.
Participants must complete time sheets and work on a Team Project that they and their placement hosts have a copy at the end of the Program. Both participant and placement host receive Certificates of Completion.
