Carmichael Outreach - Take Home Naloxone Program

Naloxone treatment itself does not replace the need to seek immediate medical attention. Call 911 immediately if you suspect an overdose.

Naloxone, the antidote to temporarily reverse an opioid overdose, is available to the public via funded programs through the provincial and federal governments and also for purchase through pharmacies.

All clients of the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program can obtain free naloxone from their pharmacy, which has been covered by the federal government, including:

• Naloxone 0.4mg/mL one mL injection and Naloxone 1mg/mL, one or two mL injection
• Naloxone injection kits
• Naloxone nasal spray
• Naloxone nasal spray kits

Saskatchewan residents who are at risk of an opioid overdose and/or might witness an opioid overdose, such as friends and family of people who use opioids, are eligible for free training and a free Take Home Naloxone kit. The training covers overdose prevention, recognition, and response, including how to administer naloxone.
