About this service
Northern Communities have unique risks that need to be managed appropriately to minimise harm to communities. The risks could be from fires, floods, or adverse weather affecting critical infrastructure such as roads, power, or potable water.
Objectives & activities of the NITHA Emergency Response Coordinator include:
- Mentoring & Training Medical First Responders
- Developing policies & procedures for First Responder Groups, Public Access to Defibrillation, Respiratory Protection, Etc.
- Liaison with Regional Health Authorities, Province, Federal, & NGO stakeholders
- Train instructors for CPR, First Aid, AED, First Responder & Emergency Medical Responder
- Assist the 2nd level coordinators with community All Hazards Plans
- Provide real time responses, advice, guidance, and manpower during emergencies
- Coordinate Emergency Management Training Opportunities
- Monitor smoke models & Satellite Fire information
- Graphically map resources, impacts, & other strategic information
