BVS - Victims of Domestic Violence

Although there are many forms of domestic violence and abuse, BVS mainly provides support to victims when the abuse is deemed criminal. We provide support to children and adults affected by domestic violence. We can also offer support and services to adult victims of domestic violence without a report made to the police.

Our program employs a dedicated DVTO Court Victim Support Worker. The support worker can guide the victim of domestic violence through the unique aspects of this court. If a charge is laid in relation to intimate partner abuse, it is likely that the accused will make his/her first court appearance in the DVTO court.

The support worker can meet with the victim to offer information about community resources, safety planning, risk assessment, and Criminal Justice System procedures. Some common community resources available to victims of domestic violence are; personal counselling, women's support group, and programming for children exposed to domestic violence.

BVS - Victims of Domestic Violence is open Monday to Friday 8AM - 5PM; closed for lunch 12 - 1PM.
