About this service
The Residential Block Parent Program provides a network of safe homes in the neighborhoods of our communities.
Block Parent volunteers are responsible adults who care about the safety of children and others and agree to offer their homes as temporary havens to those who find themselves in threatening or frightening situations.
A Block Parent may be called upon to offer their home as a place of safety when someone is in a dangerous or frightening situation such as:
- bullied
- lost, hurt or ill
- caught in severe weather
- frightened by a stranger
A Block Parent assists persons in distress by providing the persons with a safe place while telephoning the appropriate emergency service (police, fire, ambulance, etc.) when necessary.
