Saskatchewan Child Care Subsidy

The Child Care Subsidy is a monthly subsidy that is available to families to help them with the costs of licensed child care.

Subsidies vary depending on income, and payments are sent directly to the licensed child care centre.

Parents are still responsible for paying the amount of the difference between the fee and the amount of the subsidy.

A sliding scale based on a family's income is used to calculate the subsidy amount. This means the lower the income, the higher the subsidy.

Child care subsidies are paid directly to child care centres or family child care homes. Parents are still responsible for paying the amount of the difference between the child care fee and the amount of the subsidy.

In order to be eligible for the subsidy, you must:

• be the parent or guardian of a child under the age of 13;
• use a licensed child care facility;
• be a resident of Saskatchewan; and
• have a valid reason for child care such as employment, education, or special health needs.
