PECH - Social Housing Program

By the end of the 1990s, the importance of subsidized social housing was no longer in doubt for the Pech teams. In fact, during a consultation with users of our services, access to subsidized social housing turned out to be the second major concern after the traumatic experience of incarceration.

We set to work and, in the early 2000s, we developed an initial 11-unit project funded by the federal government and intended for people at risk of homelessness. Subsequently, we learned the basics of housing support and accompaniment for people as well as the concrete realities related to property management (repairs, reporting, etc.).

Today, in a social context where inequalities in access to housing are widening and where central neighborhoods are becoming more gentrified, Pech wishes to continue to develop more social housing for the people he supports.
