About this organization

The Socit acadienne et francophone de l'le, SAF'le is the spokesperson for Acadians and francophones in Prince Edward Island. Founded in 1919, the Society's mission is to work so that all Acadians and Francophones can live and flourish, individually and collectively, in French in Prince Edward Island.

To accomplish its mission, the objectives of SAF'le are:

  • to bring together the Acadians and francophones of Prince Edward Island within the same association;
  • to represent its members before municipal, provincial and national governments and to claim their rights;
  • to establish and administer a fund to provide financial assistance to Acadian and francophone students in Prince Edward Island;
  • establish programs and services aimed at promoting the development of Acadian communities in Prince Edward Island in all sectors;
  • to develop friendly relations between the Acadians and Francophones of Prince Edward Island and other Francophones in Canada and foreign countries.
