About this service
Provides an opportunity for children of low-income families to enjoy a summer of fun-filled activities and new learning experiences. For many of the kids the Summer Day Camp, with its field trips, special events and treats, is their de facto summer vacation. All too often the limited finances of the unemployed and working poor make it next to impossible for them to vacation with their children, much though they would like to. The Summer Camp is a measure taken to help fill that void. The Kids Day Camp program also provides financial relief for working parents by providing their children with daily recreation and supervised care at little cost, thereby freeing up limited funds to meet other needs.
Participation in the Summer Camp is open to children aged 4-10, and includes both tenant and non-tenant kids. Admission is free for the children of WHCI tenants, with a small nominal fee charged for other participants in the five-week program.
