About this service
A daily education program held over 3 weeks that is open to serious mental illness and/or acutely mentally ill individuals. The objectives of the program are to prevent inpatient admissions, support early discharge, allow for phased stages of recovery, and support crisis response services. Participants learn about their illness and medications, coping strategies, community resources, stress management, socialization skills, relapse prevention, positive thinking and healthy lifestyles.
Learning occurs through group presentations and discussions, written exercises, videos and direct skill teaching. The Wellness Program is supported by occupational therapy, social work, nursing, mental health counselors and a consulting psychiatrist when needed, as well as dietitians and pharmacists.
