St. Charles council 10846 serves the parishes of St. Charles Borromeo in Read, Holy Name of Mary in Marysville, St. Vincents in Deseronto, St. Edmunds in Stoco and St. Carthaghs in Tweed. The council meets in Read the first Tuesday of each month except July and August. As far back as 1923 the men of Tyendinaga Township showed a keen interest in the Knights of Columbus. That year 5 men joined the Belleville council. More joined in 1925 and 1928.
Recorded at a meeting at Belleville council on March 12, 1946 Father Coyle requested that a council be formed in Read. Interest was high and their own council was realized on April 27, 1946 with 26 members. The first Grand Knight was Henry Larkin. Unfortunately this council folded in the 1970s.
