About this service

Protego Foster Houses assists First nation people - those who ask for asylum. We help whole families with children as well as homeless aboriginal orphans.

Aboriginal children have access to valuable cultural resources but often suffer due to poverty, community isolation, lack of social services infrastructure and higher living costs. When an investigation is triggered, First Nations children are five times more likely to be investigated and 12 times more likely to be placed in foster care than non-First Nations children.

Our services include:

  • Safe shelter.
  • Expert settlement and orientation support.
  • Assistance with their refugee claim process.
  • Finding and furnishing apartments.
  • Hot meals.
  • Legal and psychological support.
  • Financial support.
  • Counselling.
  • Outreach and Intervention programs.
  • Mentoring programs, workshops and seminars.
