About this service
As a peer educator, youd talk to clients one-on-one about what STIs a general test tests for, the differences between using a birth control pill and a birth control injection, whats involved in a medical abortion, and much more. Youd do pregnancy tests and get people Plan B. Youd answer questions about sexual health, pleasure and relationships. When there were no clients around you might photocopy factsheets or otherwise help out in the office. Once you were trained, youd help train other volunteers as they started the program.
Who can volunteer?
- If you are between the ages of 18 and 29, no matter what your gender is.
- You dont need to have any experience with sexual health or education to join.
- You need to be into supporting choice and letting youth make decisions about their lives, interested in talking and learning about sexuality and sexual health.
- You need to be able to come to the trainings we run in the fall and to a three hour volunteer shift every week for a whole year.
